You are invited to join the JACL Midwest District Council Youth Representative and the Kansha Alumni Board for a screening of the film “Manzanar Diverted: When Water Becomes Dust” on Saturday, April 6th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. The screening is open to all ages and will be followed by a youth/young professionals mixer.
The film screening will be hosted at Christ Church of Chicago. Registration is required and you can contact Ayako at mdcyouth@jacl.org with any questions.
The InVISIBLE: A Reclaiming of the Asian Gaze is a multi-day showcase of art on May 17-19. The event requires that that art needs to be formally entered by March 15, 2024 via an online form. The event is sponsored by a grant from Washington University and is being orchestrated by the St. Louis Pan-Asian Collective.
Many different types of works may be submitted. The details of submission process is described in the link below.
Join us for our annual St. Louis Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) Day of Remembrance event on February 18, 2024! This year’s topic is Nisei Veterans. The location is The Lodge Des Peres, 1050 Des Peres Road, Des Peres, Missouri 63131. Doors open at 12:30 pm and lunch and coffee/water are provided. The 2024 Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) National Scholarship applications are now open! The link below will provide detailed information on the application process. The application deadline is midnight March 1, 2024. The local St. Louis Chapter Scholarship applications will not open until May 2024.

The Cross-Cultural Discussion Event on November 4 at University City Library sponsored by St. Louis JACL and St. Louis Pan-Asian Collective saw about 30 persons participate in an enlightening and honest discussion of the highs and lows of cross-cultural relationships in the St. Louis area. The panelists gave insightful answers to questions on their family dynamics and also a lifetime of experiences. Thank you to the panelists and all who attended!
Join the St. Louis JACL for a panel discussion to discuss cross-cultural relationships from Asian Americans. The discussion will be held at University City Public Library Auditorium, 6701 Delmar Blvd., University City, Missouri 63130. Light refreshments will be provided.

The St. Louis JACL Soda Tent at the St. Louis Japanese Festival at Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis September 2-4, 2023 was a record-breaking fund raising success. The booth sold out of all of the food and drink supplies thanks to perfect weather and large crowds! Thank you to all of the volunteers, including JACL members, friends of JACL, members of the St. Louis Asian American Gathering Group and Boeing Asian American Community Group. Thank you to the Missouri Botanical Garden and their staff. Great job to everyone who was involved!
Robin Hattori of the St. Louis JACL presented her Japanese American family story “The American Dream Deferred” at the L’Chaim Tea House event on August 20, 2023. Attendees of the presentation included members of the Boeing Asian American Group and St. Louis Asian American Group. This followed an excellent guided tour of the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum. Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of St. Louis facilitated this highly successful event!
