Exploring Asian Identity: The Multiracial Experience

JACL participated and helped sponsor a successful event at Webster University on November 7. Anna Crosslin, former CEO of International Institute of St. Louis and St. Louis JACL member, moderated a panel discussion on Multiracial experiences. Ninety adults registered for the event which was sponsored by a grant from Missouri Humanities.

Asian Identity Series – Webster University

JACL participated and helped sponsor a successful event at Webster University on September 19. Michelle Li of KSDK and Very Asian Foundation moderated a panel discussion of Asian American Adoptees.

The next event in this Webster University series will be on November 7, 2024, exploring Asian American bi-racial individuals moderated by Anna Crosslin, former CEO of the International Institute.

Asian Identity and Belonging: The Adoptee Experience – September 19

You are invited to the first in a series of programs that the St. Louis JACL is hosting in partnership with Webster University from a generous grant from Missouri Humanities. This event will feature three panelists from China, Vietnam and Korea who have been raised in the St. Louis region. The discussion will be led by Michelle Li, co-anchor on KSDK “Today in St. Louis at 5 On Your Side” and co-founder of the Very Asian Foundation.

Date: Thursday, September 19, 2024. 5:30pm is the Community Resource Fair, 6:00pm is the Moderated panel discussion, 7:00pm is the Reception with Asian appetizers and networking. Location is Webster University, 8274 Big Bend Blvd., Browning Hall Auditorium Room 160, free parking in Lot K. RSVP is required by September 15, 2024 at the link below.

Chuseok Korean Harvest Festival 9/14/24

A number of JACL members are volunteering to help out at the Chuseok Festival at Tower Grove Park on Saturday, September 14. Come and join this free event showcasing Korean traditions and a K-Pop dance competition! Korean food and drinks will be available for purchase from some of our local vendors.

2024 Japanese Festival Fundraising Success for JACL!

The St. Louis JACL participation in the 2024 Japanese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden from August 31-September 2 was an outstanding success. The JACL Soda Tent raised its second highest gross revenue total ever!

Robin Hattori and Wendy Roll conducted the first St. Louis JACL Cooking Demonstration at the Kemper Kitchen Sunday afternoon. Sunomono and Oyako Domburi were the demonstrated recipes, directly out of the Nisei Kitchen cookbook.

Thank you to all of the volunteers, including these Parkway Central exchange students that worked during one of the busiest shift Saturday afternoon!
